Science Olympiad Songbook
- a musical toolkit for the 2008 Sounds of Music event -

If you're a Science Olympiad participant in the 2008 Sounds of Music event, this page is for you!  In the Science Olympiad Songbook you will: 1) learn various ways to harmonize the 2008 required song, God Bless America — you can use one of these compositional approaches, or you can mix and match these methods to design your own unique harmonization;  and 2) select songs from a library of level I, level II, and level III harmonized arrangements that are appropriately written in treble and bass clefs, and are specifically designed within the 2008 “allowable scoring range” for Instrument 1 and Instrument 2.   Whether you're playing homemade instruments of your own design, or some of ours, the Science Olympiad Songbook will help you refine your performance and sound your best!

With each arrangement, you will receive sheet music and two play-along music tracks — the first track is at the preferred tempo, and the second track is slower to facilitate learning.  You will also see that some of the arrangements are designated "simple bass harmony" — these arrangements are specifically adapted for bass instruments with less speed and facility (e.g., Didgeritubes), whereas all of the other arrangements make use of free flowing bass lines appropriate for a quick-moving/nimble bass instrument (e.g., Melodic Tube Drums).
